We want to ensure every guest has a pleasant and comfortable stay with us. Therefore, we are pleased to offer rooms that are largely designed to meet the needs of people with limited mobility.
Almost all of our rooms are spacious and offer ample space for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. The beds are 54 cm high, making them easy to reach. The showers are walk-in and feature grab bars and shower stools.
Room No 1, in particular, was designed and built with accessibility in mind.
Our public areas are also barrier-free, allowing you to move around our hotel easily and independently. The rooms on the upper floors are accessible via a wheelchair-accessible elevator.
We are happy to provide a portable ramp for access from the street to the sidewalk and into the building.
Please contact us in advance. We can then discuss the individual assistance you require. We are here to ensure your stay with us is smooth and as pleasant as possible.
Of course, you are welcome to bring your dog to our hotel! We look forward to welcoming you and your furry friend. Dogs are often an important member of the family. Therefore, we assume that your four-legged companion is a well-versed hotel guest and will fit in comfortably with us. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate dogs that shed a lot of hair, are extremely temperamental, or bark loudly. Since we are responsible for all our guests, we hope for your understanding.
And what about cats?Cats are just as welcome. The same guidelines apply here as for dogs. We expect your furry companions to not use our furniture as scratching posts and to behave appropriately.
The exact cost of the final cleaning may vary depending on the length of your stay and your pet’s needs. Assistance dogs are, of course, exempt. Please contact us for further information and to plan your stay.
The Layhead B&B is ideal for small group travel. The hotel offers an intimate setting that can aptly be described as „small but perfectly formed.“
Our hotel, with its eight rooms, can accommodate a maximum of 19 adults. We have four double rooms for two people each. Our two deluxe rooms each have a gallery that provides additional sleeping space. Our suite has a bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed.
We named this room this way because you can do more here than just enjoy a delicious breakfast (link to our breakfast menu).
Catered events can easily be held here. Aperitifs can be served in the courtyard, weather permitting.
Small celebrations, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries…everything is possible.
We also rent out this room without you being a hotel guest.

Our breakfast room has tables and chairs, as well as a comfortable seating area for approximately 10 people. Here, you can sit together in the evenings with a drink. In summer, you can relax on our lounge furniture in the garden.
There is a drinks fridge stocked with Bismarck Bräu, a local beer, Althaus sparkling wine, a Lübeck house brand, and various soft drinks from Waterkant in Husum.
You are also welcome to bring your own drinks and chill them with us. There is no obligation to consume them.
We want to make your start to the day as pleasant as possible. For you, that means a relaxed atmosphere in our breakfast room, away from the crowds at the buffet. For us, that means being able to prepare our breakfast as individually and sustainably as possible. Come into our breakfast room, where your table is already set for you.
Wherever possible, we use regional, organic products. Our ingredients also change depending on the season.
We also offer freshly ground coffee in many varieties from our machine,
or a variety of teas from Trink mehr Tee, an organic tea manufacturer in Bremen.
Of course, we also cater to all requests for gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, or vegan products. We are also well-versed in other intolerances, especially celiac disease. Please feel free to contact us about this upon arrival or even beforehand.
Our breakfast is always included in the room price.
In our quest as a bed and breakfast to offer our guests the ultimate sleeping comfort, we have made no compromises. With CocoMat, we have found a partner who supports us perfectly in this.

In addition to the materials and workmanship, we were impressed by the pleasant firmness and ergonomic shape.
The separate topper adjusts to your body shape and sleeping position every night. If you prefer a very soft sleep, just let us know. We have an extra fluffy topper for that. Feel free to ask.
Both the mattress and the topper are used in many upscale hotels worldwide.
Both are made from fine natural fibers such as cotton and silk. The breathability of these materials ensures a comfortable sleeping environment, no matter the season.
We offer two types of pillows: one for back sleepers and one for side sleepers. This allows you to choose which best suits your sleeping habits. Together, both provide comfortable back support if you want to do a little reading in bed. We also kept this in mind when designing our beds. For this reason, the backrest is slightly angled so you don’t tip forward while reading.
We opted for two separate duvets per bed. They’re large enough that two people can snuggle under one if you want.
Our bed linen is made of 100% cotton. The quality and softness feel just as good as the first day, even after multiple washes.

Our Deluxe Room No. 2 also has a sofa bed on the gallery, which can comfortably sleep two children up to 15 years old.
For our youngest guests, we offer free baby cots so your baby can enjoy a safe and comfortable night’s sleep. Please let us know in advance if you require a baby cot so we can ensure it is ready in your room upon arrival. The baby can be pushed directly up to the parents‘ bed. One side panel can be lowered for easy access.

For toddlers who aren’t yet able to sleep in a regular bed, we are happy to provide extra beds free of charge. These beds are specially designed for toddlers and offer a restful sleep, so even the youngest family members can start the day well-rested.

For older children and teenagers, we also offer extra beds to ensure the whole family is comfortably accommodated. Our extra beds for teenagers are sturdy and comfortable, ensuring even the most demanding teenagers can enjoy a restful night’s sleep.

When booking your room, simply let us know if you need an extra bed for your child, and we will be happy to make sure everything is prepared.
Unfortunately, our double rooms are not suitable for extra beds.
In our breakfast room, there is a shelf where various games, children’s books, and toys await our younger guests.
Sustainability is a word that’s often used for marketing purposes these days. We don’t want to overuse this term and want to be transparent about it.
Our hotel is built from cement and reinforced concrete. These aren’t ideal conditions, as cement, or rather the clinker it contains, releases enormous amounts of CO2 during production.
Unfortunately, we had no other choice in Lübeck’s city center. For fire safety reasons, we can’t build entirely from wood here.
Therefore, it would be presumptuous to claim that our hotel or our hotel was built sustainably.
Precisely for this reason, we want to strive to operate in an even more environmentally friendly manner.
When furnishing the space, we made sure that the wood used for the furniture and flooring was certified.
The owner, Lars Eckloff, personally laid the flooring in the breakfast room. His father sawed the planks to the right size…at least 2,000 of them. The material consists of leftover wood from a large carpentry workshop.
We found most of the armchairs through classified ads. They’ve been given a second life with us. We also discovered some of the lamps there. Most of the bulbs are LEDs. The ceiling lights in the hallways are activated by motion sensors. The electricity for these comes from Lichtblick, an electricity provider that relies entirely on renewable energy.
The paint in our rooms is by Farrow & Ball. The ingredients are eco-certified.
We don’t use micro-packaging for cosmetic products in our bathrooms.
We use refillable soap dispensers. The soap is from the organic cosmetics manufacturer Sonett. We provide cosmetic tissues to prevent our washcloths and towels from being used for makeup removal. This saves us from using harsh detergents in the laundry room.
The bathroom bins don’t have trash bags. Instead, we offer small hygiene bags for your specific needs.
If you need larger trash bags, please contact us.
Our faucets and shower heads are water-saving. An integrated aerator reduces the water flow, but the pressure remains the same.
If you would prefer not to have housekeeping, just let us know.
If we don’t receive any notification from you, the rooms will be briefly cleaned daily, the beds made, and the trash cans emptied.
There are two bins in the rooms: one for paper and one for general waste. This way, with your help, we can separate the waste in advance.
Most of our cleaning products are from Frosch and are therefore biodegradable.
There are no minibars in the rooms. Instead, our guests have access to a well-stocked drinks fridge in the breakfast room. It’s stocked with Bismarck Bräu, a local beer, Althaus sparkling wine, a Lübeck house brand, and various lemonades from Waterkant in Husum.
Our breakfast is packaged and we make as much as possible ourselves.
